Ingredients: Soak 1 cup of uraddal(minapapappu) ,2 1/2 cups of par-boiled rice and 1/2 tsp-methi seeds(for good brown color) . Soak it for 8 hours with plenty of water. Grind all the ingredients to fine smooth paste by adding water. Ferment the batter for at least 6-8 hours(you can keep it in the oven and cover it with blanket during winter).
.Preparation:
To the batter add 1/2 tsp of salt,1 tsp of cumin seeds.
finely chop 1 onion,6 green chillies and coriander leaves.
Heat non-stick pan on medium heat till it gets very hot.
Apply oil to the pan(you can use non-stick cooking spray also) and Pour 2 laddles of dosa batter on pan spread it into round shape.Sprinkle onion,green chili,coriander leaves and add 1/2 tsp oil on top.
when dosa starts changing to brown color turn slowly to other side.
Recipe: serves -4 cooking time :25 mins. Ingredients: Today I am using moongdal instead of toordal.. 1 cup moongdal/pesarapappu/green gram dal 1 medium size yellow cucumber 1 onion,2 tomatoes 3 green chillies 1/2 turmeric pwd Tamarind salt to taste
For popu/Tadka: 1tsp of cumin,mustard seeds 4-5 garlic cloves finely chopped 3 dry red chillies.
Preparation:
peel the skin of yellow cucumber, cut in the middle and remove the seeds. Cut it into cube size pieces.
In a pressure cooker add moongdal, cucumber, onion, tomato, turmeric, tamarind, green chillies and add 2 1/2 cups of water. Cook it for 2 whistles.
Heat oil in a pan add cumin,mustard seeds, once mustard seeds starts crackle add chopped garlic, red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida cook it for 1 min.
switch of the flame add popu mixture to pressure cooked dal. Mix all together add cook it for 2-3 mins on low flame.
serve hot with rice, ghee and avakaya...... delicious
My mom will be surprised after seeing this recipe.I never ate cabbage in my childhood,even in college days. Cabbage is an excellent source of vitamin C. It is also a very good source of fiber, manganese, folate, vitamin B6, potassium, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Serves-2 to 3 cooking time-30 mins
Ingredients:
1 medium sized cabbage-Remove the thick fibrous outer leaves and cut the cabbage into pieces and then wash under running water.
2 Tomatoes,1 onion,6 green chillies finely chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric,coriander pwd
salt to taste
1 tsp of cumin,mustard seeds
3 garlic cloves
3-4 curry leaves chopped.
Preparation:
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin,mustard and chopped garlic.Once they turn brown add chopped onion ,green chillies saute until golden brown.
Add turmeric ,cabbage,chopped tomato,salt mix everything keep the stove on medium heat for 10-15 mins.Stir continuously every 2-3 mins.
Switch off the flame.Garnish with chopped coriander.
